I started Square Dancing at Casula with Tony Alessi in about 2001. Once I saw Round Dancing, I knew that was my preferred dance style, so I started Round Dancing at Renniks Rounds at Greystanes in 2002.

In about 2005, I thought would take up the challenge of cueing rounds at the club. When Ray Skinner (the person running the club) passed away, I took over the running of the Club under the banner of Greystanes Rounds. I continued to run this club even after we moved to the Central Coast for two nights a week. Monday night was Phase 2, 3 & 4 rounds and Tuesday nights were for beginners and a 50/50 (1/2 Square Dancing and ½ Round Dancing) we held once a month. David Todd called the squares at first, then Ashley Shore continued to do the calling while I cued the Rounds.

When we moved to the Central Coast, we joined Pelican Promenaders Square Dance Club at Woy Woy. When Lorraine Long (the caller) retired from Square Dance Calling, I changed it to a Round Dance Club but still kept the name “Pelican Promenaders” in honour of Lorraine. We also had a 50/50 dance once a month as well to continue the way we started at Greystanes. Ashley Shore was our Square Dance caller then and still is.

I am at present still running the Pelican Promenaders Round Dance Club at Tuggerah Community Hall on a Wednesday afternoon and at Cardiff Senior Citizens Hall in the evening. We also run a 50/50 dance on 4 th Sunday in the month at Tuggerah Community Hall as we all enjoy both dance styles.
